Who We Are?

ASHTI Foundation

is a Syrian-led, women-led non-governmental organization established in Al Qamishli in 2013. We work across North East Syria to support communities affected by conflict, displacement, economic hardship, and climate-related challenges.

Our mission is to strengthen community resilience, social cohesion, and human security through integrated programming that combines peacebuilding, protection, education, livelihoods, environmental action, and basic services.

ASHTI believes that sustainable peace is built when communities have equitable access to opportunities, resources, participation, and essential services. We therefore work alongside local communities, civil society organizations, authorities, and international partners to address immediate needs while supporting long-term stability and locally led development.

ASHTI is registered with both the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Government of Syria and is committed to the principles of neutrality, accountability, transparency, and inclusion.

Why We Exist?

Conflict, displacement, environmental degradation,

and economic instability continue to place significant pressure on communities across North East Syria.

ASHTI was founded on the belief that peace cannot be achieved through dialogue alone. Communities also need access to services, livelihoods, environmental security, and opportunities for meaningful participation.

Our work therefore bridges humanitarian action, recovery, development, and peacebuilding by addressing both immediate needs and the underlying factors that contribute to vulnerability and social tensions.
